How can we track vacation time?

Learn how you can create new services in your EHR to track vacation time, trainings, or other activities.

Right now some of our customers create a client called PTO and then a new service type called PTO with a billing code of PTO and a $0 fee. They configure the service to apply a fixed number of units based on the duration of the appointment. They then instruct providers to create appointments with the PTO client and the PTO service for the number of hours that they will be taking PTO. In PracticeVital these appointments would be counted as Completed Sessions and you can identify them in reports by the billing code.

PV will adjust automatically to whatever value you use here, by the way, and we can also assign a weight to the number of units. For example, if you bill 1 unit for every 60 minutes, and the appointment lasts 8 hours, we can apply a weighting of 0.5 so that the clinician gets "credit" for 4 sessions instead of 8.
One final tip:  These appointments will be evaluated for outstanding notes, so please have the clinician complete a consultation note to ensure their outstanding note count does not become inflated. This is another reason why using a single 8-hour appointment may be easier than 8 1-hour appointments.
