Clinician Goals, Completed Sessions, and Utilization

Edited

PracticeVital tracks completed sessions at both the practice-wide and individual-clinician level. In general, "completed sessions" count revenue-generating activities. During planning, most practices set targets, or "goals", for completed sessions, and then measure progress towards those goals.

Utilization is progress towards the goal represented as a percent. For example, if a clinician has 85 completed sessions out of a goal of 100, their utilization is 85%.

Defining Goals

Goals are defined per clinician during onboarding, and can be edited in Settings.

Goals are expressed as a weekly session goal. If your practice sets goals per quarter or per year, it is straightforward to convert those to a weekly goal. Reach out to support if you have questions or need help.

Counting Rules

Completed Sessions are not necessary one-to-one with calendar appointments. You can set values per service, and set "per unit" values for appointments that use units. You can see your practice's counting rules in Settings.

Billable Cancels

PracticeVital supports a category called "Billable Cancels". These sessions do count towards completed sessions.
